Lori Ortman began her dance training at Gotta Dance when the studio first opened its doors in 1989. Her 25 years of dancing include competitive, solo, and partnering experience, as well as being an instructor for the past 14 years at Gotta Dance and throughout the Metro-Detroit area.
Lori was trained in all areas of dance, but her primary focus and passion is ballet. She has studied under renowned ballet masters from across the country and in Canada (Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Blue Lake, Ballet Intensive from Moscow, Bolshoi Ballet), and has received ballet acceptances and scholarships. Lori has worked with competitive gymnasts, skaters, and collegiate dance teams, teaching ballet technique and master classes.
Her students have performed with the Joffrey Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Grand Rapids Ballet, The Kirov, BalletMet Columbus, and Moscow Ballet, and have received scholarships to notable ballet programs and universities.
Lory has performed in Las Vegas and Los Angeles for Little Caesar’s Inc., and appeared on national television during the Detroit Lions Halftime Show on Thanksgiving Day. She graduated with honors from Oakland University in Rochester, MI receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. She is married to her wonderful husband and is happy to have returned back to the area after living in Grand Rapids for three years.
